[ One day, an angel appeared to a young woman named Mary. “God is happy with you,” said the angel. “You have been chosen to have a baby boy! You will call him Jesus, and He will be great. He will be the Son of the Most High!”
Mary stared at the angel. “How can this be?” she asked.
“God will send His Holy Spirit to give you this baby,” said the angel. “And God has done another miracle. After many years of waiting, God will give your relatives Elizabeth and Zechariah a son. See, nothing is impossible with God.”
Mary bowed. “I am God’s humble servant. I will do all that you have said.”
Then the angel left.]
This is the GOOD NEWS that Mother Mary received from the angel. Without this GOOD NEWS, we won’t be celebrating Jesus birthday on 25th December every year. Also, shepherds from the fields surrounding Bethlehem were told of the birth of Jesus by an angel too. Therefore, I made this “Angel bring good news” bento as my first Christmas theme bento this year. 🙂
To made the angel, I put a yellow egg sheet on top of the rice and cut a the angel’s shirt from the white egg sheet. The face, hands and legs were cut from ham and the hair was cut free hand from a piece of nori. Face details were cut from nori too and two tiny red sugar balls for the rosy cheeks. Final touch-up, two wing picks as the angel wings. After that, I used the alphabet cutter to cut out the “GOOD NEWS” words from a dark brown egg sheet. Those twinkle little stars were cut from white egg sheet.
The bento consists of rice, soy sauce chicken, siew pak choy, white mushroom, cherry tomatoes and a persimmon. I made this bentofor myself actually, therefore I didn’t cut the persimmon into small slices, I love to bite it just as it is, but then, my eldest son wanted so much for the bento and grapped the bento before I could do anything…hehehe…what to do…as a loving mom, I got to sacrifice most of the things for kids even a bento too…hahaha.
Hope everyone will receive GOOD NEWS from God all the time and bring GOOD NEWS to others too. 😉
