爱。开心便当のInari flower pots

February 25, 2011

This was yesterday bento for my son.  I bought a pack of inari last few weeks…and again…need to use it before it went expired..haha.   I filled the inari pockets with two different colored rice, yellow and green.  Then, I made some two flowers from sausage stripes and two from cucumber stripes.  Put these flowers on the top of the inari sushi and put in the heart and leaf picks to make the inari sushi as flower pots.

There were some tamagoyaki and grapes in the the bento and a cherry tomato to brighten up the box. 🙂

Wishing everyone have a great weekend ahead.  ^^

I used a 2-tier black bento box which I bought it from 100Yen Shop last few months.   The bottom layer was just white rice.  I used imitation crab meats and nori to make two lovely ladybugs.  The black color trail were black sesame seeds.

The upper layer were some broccoli florets, a big chunk of fried chicken and some cherries.  I had put in some pretty food picks and two crab meat star flowers to the broccoli and chicken in order to brighten up the color contrast.

爱。开心便当のBirthday Sheep bento

December 7, 2010

I made this simple bento for my eldest son, Adrian, to celebrate his birthday tommorrow.   🙂

In Chinese Lunar calender there are twelve Zodiac animal signs (生肖 shēngxiào) or Earthly Branches .   Every year is assigned an animal name or “sign” according to a repeating cycle: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar. Therefore, every twelve years the same animal name or “sign” would reappear.

Adrian was born in the year of the Sheep (羊), so I used rice and quail egg to make a very simple white sheep.  Then use nori and imitation crab meat (red color part) to decorate the sheep.  The little white sheep was surrounded by broccoli florets.

Other than the rice, quail egg and broccoli, there are some mushrooms, chicken and cherry tomatoes in the upper section of the box and a big orange too.  he love to eat orange, so I gave him a BIG one..hehe.  Those little stars were cut from the imitation crab meat (white color part).

Adrian was so happy to receive this bento as part of his birthday gift…hehe…there are other surprise is waiting for him tomorrow and I hope he like the birthday celebration which I am planning for him tomorrow too. Wish my lovely son “Happy birthday!!”. 🙂

爱。开心便当のPink Ribbon Angel

October 11, 2010

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  There are different type of events been organized and even there is a pink bento theme event organized by BentoBlog in our bento world here.  Hope that this event will raises awareness and educational activities to increase our community’s knowledge about being breast aware.  Therefore, I made this pink ribbon angel bento this morning and hope that this angel has a strongest power to bring magic on earth to protect all women around the world from this common form of cancer.

I used two fish balls to make the head and body of the angel.  Then, used a star food pick to hold the two fish ball together, and decorated the face detials with nori and pink marshmallow.  I cut a tiny stripe of ham and make it as the pink bibbon and pinned it at the angel’s body.  Finally, put in the wings food pick as the angel’s wings.  The rice was slighly plain in view, so, I put some black sesame seeds on it and put in a pink bibbon to decorate the rice too. Yay…all with pink ribbon…pink ribbon is an international symbol of breast cancer awareness.  🙂

Besides the rice and the pink ribbon angel, the bento also has some broccoli, four pieces of crispy fried seafood taufu and some fresh blackcurrents.

The following are some information about breast cancer in Malaysia, hope that with this information will raises awareness and educational activities among us in Malaysia.

爱。开心便当のCaring Bear bento

September 28, 2010

I made this caring bear bento for my son this morning.  The bear was make from some white rice. I used the cling wrap to mold the rice into the shapes that I want, then joined them together to form the caring bear.  After that, using nori for the ears and the face details.  The red heart at the bear’s chest was cut out from a piece of red color artificial crab stick.  I cut some boiled carrot stars to decorate the box and included two cherry tomatoes too.

This caring bear already occupied the whole bento box.  Therefore,  I put the mushroom chicken and black grapes in another bento box.

Hope my boy will enjoy his cute caring bear so much. 🙂
